Message
My research focuses on elucidating the cellular dynamics and regulatory mechanisms of tissue-resident stem cells. We identified heterogeneous stem cell populations in the mouse skin epidermis (Nat Cell Biol 2016) and established the genetic tools and molecular markers to analyze these cells in vivo. I am currently studying epithelial stem cells in regeneration and aging by integrating interdisciplinary techniques, such as genetic engineering of mice, imaging, omics analysis, glycobiology and bioengineering. We seek motivated students (undergrad, master and PhD level) from all over the world. The University of Tsukuba is among top 10 research-oriented universities in Japan, located in the Tsukuba Science City, northeast of Tokyo. Tsukuba Advanced Research Alliance (TARA center) is a cutting edge, research institute within the University, focuses on diverse areas of biomedical researches, including aging, stem cells, epigenetics, immunology, reproduction and cardiovascular diseases.
