LHC 加速器を用いた高エネルギー重イオン衝突実験 ALICE を行い、宇宙の初期に存在したクォーク・グルーオン・プラズマ(QGP)を生成し、その性質の研究、特にジェットと光子を用いたQGP物性研究を行なっています。ALICE 実験の ジェット物理部会長 (2017-2020) を務めました。また ALICE 実験のアップグレード計画において、前方カロリメータ FoCal 国際プロジェクトの共同代表、FoCal プロジェクト日本代表、FoCal-E PAD 検出器の代表を務めています。FoCal により、QGP生成機構とカラーグラス凝縮 (CGC) の謎に迫ります。
